What is Melanin Pigmentation? A normal variant found prredominantly in dark skinned individuals. The melanin produced by melanocytes is deposited extracelluarly. An increase in the number of melanocytes produces melanin resulting in clinically visible pigmentation of skin, eyes, hair, mucosa and gingiva.
